Different cultures and people are a constant source of inspiration to me.  Bahiana depicts a typical woman from Bahia, an area of Brazil that was the destination for many African slaves.  Looking further into the Afro-Brazilian culture;  Yoruba, Alangua and Bayakas are  influenced by sculptures of West African tribes that provided many of the slaves for the plantations.  Busts 2, 4 and 5 also show these trans-continental influences.  These sculptures range from 20 – 30 cm high.
